JEREMY GLUCK'S "THE GREAT PRIZE".
Jeremy Gluck, with whom I've struck up a great rapport, has released an on-line compilation titled "The Great Prize" and features three of my mixes of his stark spoken-word poems. He provides the words and vocals and I provide the music, using either original loops and/or loops from my compadres at Tapegerm.com. These songs are also featured on my page at Tapegerm.com.

NEW OPEN LOOP PROJECT, NUMBER FIVE, AT TAPEGERM.
I've created a new Open Loop Project, my fifth, at Tapegerm. I've uploaded over 700 Megs of loops for your audio enjoyment. I've been composing with some new-to-me VST's and a couple of my regular composing programs. There's a wide varity here and I hope you find something that sparks something. Have fun. At least a Free Account at Tapegerm is required to access the project.

GRINDSTONE REDUX DVD
The Story of the 1980s US Underground Music Network
While I have nothing to do with this DVD, it is so good I have to spotlight it. It's a documentary of the cassette culture of the 1980's. This vast and weighty
subject would be hard pressed to be completely covered in one scant hour but what is here is solid and gives a very good insight into the revolution of the 1980's.
Instead of me talking, let me quote from the Grindstone Redux webpage.
"Before there was an Internet or CDs or DVDs or even home computers, there was a revolution in the music industry against the standardization and monolithic grip of the major record labels in the 1980s by independent musicians and labels through the development of self-publishing. This is that story, as told by the people who made it happen. The revolution was fueled by technological developments in recording, reproduction and publishing. Artists took music publishing into their own hands. This phenomenon was unique to the 1980s. Grindstone Redux includes interviews with recording artists & independent label owners. It also includes rare vintage music videos from the 1980s, biographies and discographies."

You won't be sorry you did.
NEW HAL MCGEE COMPILATION!
HAL MCGEE'S DICTAPHONIA COMPILATION
At the begining of April, 2009 Hal McGee
sent out a invitation to the community to contribute to a micro-cassette compilation called "Dictaphonia". I responded with a composistion titled "Liquid Glass". This is a semi-live improvisation done with Buzz. For more information please visit Hal's "Dictaphonia" web site by clicking here.
Featured in a track by the great French muscian; M.Nomized
M.Nomized has used some of my sounds, subtly and suitably remixed along with his own brillant sounds on "Krisis"
from his CD "Release".
I've added another CD to my Featured Explorations page. It's "Every Electric Part Of You" from 1992. The title track was the most challenging piece I had done
up to that time. Check it out, it's free for the downloading.
Different browsers handle playing and downloading differently and then it depends on how you configure your particular browser. Clicking the Download / Play link should start your default MP3 player, right click on the link and there should be a choice to "Save As" or "Save Link As".
Time: 4:50 Size: 3.32 Meg
"Sweetwater Dream"; this mix was actually the first one I started working on for the 10 Year Project and is a contemplative, highly smokable composition. It reminds me of one of my early analog recordings; "Theta Meadow" on "A Gentle Sounding Of Chaotic Extensions" from 1995, (available at my "Featured Explorations" page). Loops by Blind Mime Infection, Carpet Glue Unlimited, davefugle, Grunt, Heuristics Inc., Jesus Crash My Soft Synth, Loopy Spiderz, Mentally Anguished, resonan and SoLaRiS from the legendary 10 Years Infection Project at Tapegerm.
Time: 2:31 Size: 1.73 Meg
"A Progression Of Innocence" is based on loops from the Tapegerm 10 Year Infection Project, the beautiful piano loop is by Bryan Baker, the vocal loop is spoken word poem by Jeremy Gluck read by Jack Wrigley and a "background" loop by Grunt (aka Cystem/John Sosnowski). When I first heard Bryan's piano loop, I thought that this deserves to be showcased without any mutation. When I heard Jeremy's loop, it all clicked and so the mix was done and very quickly. It's a departure from my usual fare, but I know you'll like it.
Time: 5:43 Size: 3.93 Meg
"A Scattering" is upon us. Another one of my audio sculptures, dark and dense using Tapegerm.com's 10 Years Infection Project Loops by Blind Mime Infection, Buzzsaw & The Shavings, Carpet Glue Unlimited, Heuristics Inc., Mentally Anguished, resonan and Solaris.
Time: 2:31 Size: 1.72 Meg
"Another Mind Another World" is built around a spoken word poem by Jeremy Gluck. Slip into another mind, feel another world. Jeremy's poems are wonderful to work with and this was no exception.
Time: 4:00 Size: 2.75 Meg
"100 Adventures In Electralicah" is my first mix for Tapegerm's 10 Years Infection Project. Loops by Grunt, Solaris, Blind Mime Infection and Mentally Anguished. This is also my 100th posted mix for Tapegerm, on to the next 100! Thank you one and all, who have listened to my mixes and provided boundless support.
Time: 4:16 Size: 2.93 Meg
"Mystic": A mythical, mystical meeting. John Sosnowski's (aka Cystem) loops are always great to work with. Credits: Cystem FTP Loops, Dave on Hammerhead Rhythm Section.
Time: 4:27 Size: 3.06 Meg
"Obscure Again": This was composed using the loops from the Hebephrenic Open Loops Project at Tapegerm. Oh no, I'm obscure... again, no commercial potential.
Time: 4:37 Size: 3.17 Meg
"Distant Storm": This was composed using the loops from the Dan Richert Guest Artist Project at Tapegerm.
Time: 5:20 Size: 3.67 Meg
"Stone Forest": Most of it was composed using the great freeware tracker/synthesizer program; Buzz. I also used loops by Mental Anguish from his Open Loops at Tapegerm and Cystem's FTP loops at Tapegerm.
I pieced this together using public domain video and added my own soundtrack.
